New temporary activity visa framework

From 19 November 2016 there is a new temporary activity visa framework designed to reduce red tape for certain temporary activity visas. The existing seven temporary activity visa subclasses will be reduced to four, namely: • Subclass 400 – Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) • Subclass 403 – Temporary Work (International Relations) • Subclass 407 – Training • Subclass 408 – Temporary Activity

This will eliminate five existing subclasses – 401 Temporary Work (Long Stay Activity), 402 Training and Research, 416 Special Program, 420 Temporary Work (Entertainment) and 488 Superyacht Crew.
