Changes to 457 occupation lists

From today some changes have been made to the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) for both subclass 457 and 186 (Direct Entry) nominations. These will only apply to new nominations and applications lodged on or after today.

The changes include:

  • The following occupations have been removed from the STSOL and are no longer eligible for nomination:

  • Building Associate

  • Hair or Beauty Salon Manager

  • The following occupations have been added to STSOL:

  • Property Manager (with caveats)

  • Psychotherapist

  • Real Estate Representative (with caveats)

  • The following occupations have been moved from the STSOL to the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL):

  • Horse Breeder (with caveats)

  • Management Consultant (with caveats)

  • The following occupations have new caveats:

  • Accommodation and Hospitality Managers NEC – this is only available for regional areas

  • Management Accountant – excludes the following positions:

  • clerical, book keeper and accounting clerk positions

  • positions in businesses that have an annual turnover of less than AUD$1M

  • positions in businesses that have fewer than five employees

  • Massage Therapist – clarification of existing caveats

  • Recruitment Consultant – amendment to existing caveats raising the base salary requirement to $90,000

  • Supply and Distribution Manager – amendment to existing caveats so that the annual turnover requirements does not apply where international trade obligations apply

  • Taxation Accountant – amendment to existing caveats so that the nominating business must have an annual turnover of at least AUD$1 million and at least 5 employees
