The importance of meeting training benchmarks
In both the 457 program and the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) the Department of Immigration is increasingly looking more closely at how employers are meeting their obligations to train their Australian employees. The Department is now far tougher on in-house training programs and with external training providers more detailed evidence of the use of the training is required, as opposed to mere payment of the training fees. Meeting their training obligations is critical for employers in order to obtain further approval as a Standard Business Sponsor under the 457 program and also in nominations for their 457 visa holders applying for permanent residence under the Temporary Residence Transition provisions of the ENS.
