PIC 4020 changes

From 18 November 2017 there are important changes to Public Interest Criteria 4020 which significantly broaden the power of the Department to refuse a visa application on the basis of bogus or fraudulent documents.

The changes mean that for application lodged after this date the application can be refused if a visa applicant provided a bogus document or information that is false or misleading to the Department, a relevant assessing authority of a Medical Officer of the Commonwealth in relation to a visa the applicant held, or applied for, in the period of 10 years before the current application was made (or in relation to the current visa application).

It is critical that applicants are accurate in the information which they provide to the Department of Immigration to prevent significant problems down the track. We can help you prevent such problems.
