State nomination in Tasmania

As a result of the tightening of eligibility criteria for many skilled visas, significant numbers of potential applicants are looking at regional options including in states and territories such as Tasmania, the Northern Territory and South Australia. This has increased the number of applications for sponsorship being received by those bodies and therefore can impact on processing times.

The Tasmanian Department of State Growth has advised (via the MIA) that:

Due to the high volume of applications and email enquires we are experiencing, please note that it can take up to 3 months for state nomination applications to be finalised.

To be fair to applicants who have lodged their applications first, we are unable to grant any request for priority processing.

Applicants will need to take into account such timings and how those processing times may interact with the expiry of their current visa.
