COVID-19: Relaxing of student visa conditions

The government has announced a relaxing of certain student visa conditions in light of the current COVID-19 crisis. Normally a student visa holder is restricted to 40 hours work per fortnight but the government is allowing work in limited areas above these hours. These include:

- International students currently employed at the major supermarkets will be able to extend their working hours to help meet high demand for essential items because of COVID-19.

- Aged care facilities and home care providers will temporarily be able to offer more hours to international students to ensure the care of senior and vulnerable Australians.
