COVID-19: Travel ban for Australian

In a further attempt to stem the spread of COVID-19 the Government has imposed a travel ban on Australians. From midday yesterday Australian citizens and permanent residents are not permitted to travel outside Australia unless granted an exemption (eg where travel is required in compelling circumstances). This travel ban initially applies for 4 weeks but may be extended. Any breach of the travel ban is a criminal offence which may result in imprisonment for up to 5 years or a fine of up to $63,000.
